V-Sync really doesn't matter and does not affect the VR because VR already has a built in v-sync and ASW.

Yes my normal Vive can be super sampled to 200% with 200 pixel density on all medium/high settings and it looks and runs good, but with the higher resolution on the Pro it looks and runs horribly. That's why I believe it isn't optimized for VR completely. With the generation of HMDs coming out, the game isn't ready.
Heresanother tip- go and download Assetto Corsa Content Manager which is a much much better launcher and in that you can globally disable all shadows- very useful for gaining back that extra FPS to keep VR running smooth. AC:CM also has some extra features not found in the vanilla launcher such as VR camera-shake. Good luck.
