But as someone who's primarily driven quiet gasoline and hybrid vehicles, the noise level and vibration of the 3.0 TDI felt inappropriate for a $60k+ car, in my opinion. - The 3.0T has a much much stronger highway (e.g. > 55mph) pull than the TDI.
Like all large engine performance cars it needs looking after, service wise, so do the maths and for smiles/noise per buck, so to speak, it knocks sock off the 1.8T. Lets not forget that the 3.0 block is the same block Audi now use for the new S4 but with a Supercharger, so it'll take lots of power, i.e they are bullet proof!
